Gerald “Jerry” W. Klemp; 79 of Grand Prairie Texas died Thursday December 1, 2016 at Midlothian Health Care Center, Midlothian TX. He was born January 24, 1937 in Janesville, WI, the son of the late Otto and Emilie (Bartel) Klemp. Jerry was married for 50 years to Anita Koglin on June 29, 1957 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Janesville WI. He served with the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1962 while stationed in Williamsburg VA. He was also employed by General Motors for 45 years retiring in 2000. Jerry was a devoted member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Janesville WI for 71 years, Apostle’s Lutheran Church in Platteville WI for 7 years and St. John’s Lutheran Church of Mansfield TX for almost 2 years. He is preceded in death by his wife Anita Klemp and brother Herman Klemp. Jerry is survived by his 2 siblings Eleanor “Ellie” (Robert) McLaughlin of Janesville, twin sister Geraldine “Geri” (Ronald) Kerl of Pardeeville WI, son Jeffrey Klemp of Grand Prairie TX, daughter Trudy (David) Slatter of Grand Prairie TX, 2 grandchildren Joshua and Lydia Slatter both of Grand Prairie TX. Services will be at 11am Saturday December 17, by the Rev Thomas Reeder Jr. at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home 1010 North Wright Rd Janesville, Wisconsin 53546 with visitation from 9:30am to 11am. Memorials can be made in lieu of flowers to St John’s Lutheran Church Mansfield TX, Apostle’s Lutheran Church Platteville WI, St Paul’s Lutheran Church Janesville WI or the Rock County Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin 222 N Arch St. Janesville, Wisconsin 53548.
